Lord of the Flies

My first semester of illustration 1 is over, and our last project was to create a book cover for a classic novel. I chose Lord of the Flies, and really experimented with character designing on this one. Done digitally

Each of these was about three or four days in my painting class. done in oil. 

Conversation Piece.

Our latest illustration assignment was "two people conversing". I chose to do a gouache with colored pencil piece. First time ever using gouache! Chosen to be in Ringling's "Best of Fall" show. 

Media Acrylic "Animal Eye"/"Every Hair on a Dog"

In media we were using acrylic, and the assignment was to find an animal, and paint every single hair, with special attention to the eyes. I painted my dog, Sabrina! Took about thirty hours.

Rags to Riches

For my Illustration 1 class, our assignment was to do an editorial illustration based on an article about how older generations are more consumed with buying luxury brands, whereas it doesn't really matter to the newer generations. Done digitally.

For those about to rock...

The title of this assignment for my Illustration 1 class was, "The History of Rock and Roll." We could use any media and it could be any size, as long as it was a square. I chose to do mine in digital, and here's the final piece. Overall it took about 40 hours.

Breakfast anyone?

Our first Illustration1 assignment was pretty basic, just illustrate breakfast, any breakfast. The catch was the we had to use a graphic style, like the works of Wayne Thiebaud. I rendered mine digitally and this is the final outcome. I hand drew all of the type aside from the date, which was a major pain in the butt.

Sea Dragon

For my media class, our first assignment was to pick a sea creature of any kind and render it in pen & ink, here's my final sea dragon.

I bought a lightbox so I could practice animating! This isn't much but I'll probably end up animating a lot more because its a nice change.

Pan's Labyrinth movie study..

I took a still from one of my favorite films, Pan's Labyrinth, and used it for a color study. This was a really enjoyable exercise ...

First time using oil paints, it took a while to get used to them, but I've come to the conclusion I prefer them to acrylics.
